Peer Tutoring

UFA Peer Tutors are young people who help other young people to learn

Take a look at the information leaflet below.

Peer Tutors are trained and supported to take on this role and form an essential part of the learning team. There are many types of peer support and a UFA Peer Tutor role has learning as its focus.

To help you start a Peer Tutor programme we can deliver training courses for your young people, train the trainer programmes for adults or you can buy our publication 'Leading others Learning' which has training activities and loads of resources.

Case study

Hawkley High School, Wigan, have set up a Peer Tutor programme aimed at improving boys' exam results. After training the boys are helping younger pupils adapt to school and introduce them to different learning skills. The plan is that if older boys can be seen to be leading and learning in a relaxed, fun but constructive way then their younger peers will follow suit!
