Leading Learning

Leading Learning Lead Learners is a programme designed to support Peer Tutors to make the shift from supporting other young people's learning to taking a more active role in leading and facilitating the learning

Leading and Learning in Teams is a two-day programme designed to develop and progress the personal skills of young people in order to help them to develop their potential to be leaders and team players. It focuses on team work and the different roles individuals can take in a team, leading a team and the coaching of self and others. The course can stand alone or can be used to support the Key Stage 3 UFA course students of today; leaders of tomorrow.

If you would like to set up your own group of young people as Lead Learners you will find everything you need in our publication 'Leading Others Learning'. We can also deliver both Lead Learners and Leading and Learning in Team as programmes for your group. Contact us for more details.

Case study

Queen Mary's High School wanted their young people to have the opportunity of leading learning for their peers. The school introduced the idea in assembly and set up an application process. Students were invited to an interview and were then sent a letter offering them a position as a Lead Learner. The Lead Learners group were trained and they then advertised their activities in an assembly, the activities covered memory skills, revision skills and healthy learning environments. The year was evaluated and seen as very successful. QM will make some changes, but have learnt that their students are their best resource and often achieve beyond their expectations if given the opportunity and responsibility.

’This course has been great because you have to learn how to work with people you don’t know or even like sometimes at school and at work.’
