University of the First Age

Who we work with

We work with young people aged between 5 - 25 and with adults who support and promote their achievements; developing challenging models of learning not only with Local Authorities, schools and teachers but also with parents, community tutors, learning mentors, artists, and professionals from all walks of life.

Partner Organisations

Whole Education

Whole Education

Whole Education is a partnership of like-minded schools, organisations and individuals that believe that all young people should have a fully rounded education, developing the knowledge, skills and qualities needed to help them thrive in life and work.  Education should be much more than examination syllabuses, national tests or the national curriculum so Whole Education encourages everyone involved in education to look outside the narrow confines of these externally imposed constraints. The government is giving schools new curriculum freedoms. Now is the time to re-think the curriculum and ensure that all young people have access to the right blend of knowledge and skills.

Expansive Education

Expansive Education

Expansive Education is an approach to teaching and learning that develops life-long learners. Central to this practice is Action Research, used in classrooms to develop positive attributes in learners, preparing individuals to meet the challenges of life and work. The Expansive Education Network (eedNET) enables teachers to share their research and experience and is administered by the Centre for Real-World Learning, based at the University of Winchester, building on the work of Professors Guy Claxton and Bill Lucas into the dispositions required to equip learners for life.

NCVYS

NCVYS

Established in 1936, the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services is a diverse and growing network of over 280 national organisations and regional and local networks that work with and for young people. Our mission is to work with our members from voluntary and community organisations to build thriving communities and sustainable networks that help all young people achieve their potential.

NCS

NCS

NCS is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity open to all 16 & 17 year olds in England, that helps you build your skills for work and life, while you take on new challenges and meet new friends.

It runs in the spring, summer and autumn. You'll have a short time away from home and take part in a team project that will help your community.

"I never thought I'd be able to do something like this before this course. It's inspired us to set up things that our kids can do when they are not at school. It's been great and I'm really looking forward to putting my learning into practice."
