“Learning is super!” declare pupils

Year 7 pupils were treated to a Super Learning Day at Mosslands Technology College on Friday 16 July. The Super Learning Day, which was led by Year 9 Peer Tutors, focussed on helping the Year 7s learn how to learn. The Peer Tutors, who were trained through education charity, University of the First Age, helped to design and prepare the workshops that they led. The day had the following workshop themes: My Amazing Brain Workshop; My Mega Memory Workshop; My Emotions, Feelings and Learning Workshop and a Physical Learning Workshop.

Peer Tutors Cameron Drysdale and Tom Kitto, said
" Leading the workshops was worrying at the start, especially when we saw all the year 7s in the assembly hall. As the day went on it became easier and easier. We have realised that when you become a role model for others they become a role model for you. By respecting younger people, they will respect you back. We have learnt more about younger people and how they think about things and learn."

Year 7 pupil, Daniel commented: "The Super Learning Day was fun, useful and educational. I have learnt skills that will help me in school and in life. I really enjoyed learning about our brain and this has made me realise some things that will influence my learning. "
