The Bourne Academy in Bournemouth became the latest school to have the Students of Today, Leaders of Tomorrow programme in early January.
Four excellent staff were trained who then facilitated the course to 60 students from Year 9-11. These students already have leadership roles including House Captains and Student Council reps.
The young people were enthusiastic especially for the more practical aspects of the course and really stepped up to the challenge of taking the lead more as the course went along. They also showed a high level of reflection and the final presentations were dynamic yet thoughtful. The school are now considering recruiting a YoUFA coordinator and we look forward to hearing more great things from the Bourne Leaders!
“Each and everyone of you CAN make a difference but what it comes down to is how determined and passionate you are.
Saying you’re a leader means nothing unless you get up and prove it and show what you’re capable of.
Having a voice is the most precious gift we have so don’t waste it!
We’re all different and we all lead in different ways.
Roles within this school have helped us to build the foundations we need to succeed in life.
What we do with these skills is now down to us.
Great leaders are just ordinary people like you and I – who says you can’t be a great leader too?
Use your tools like we use ours. Use your tools to build your life and make it the best you possibly can.
Be a leader. No, be a great leader.” Head Girl, The Bourne Academy, Bournemouth
